Gen 1

Most common and most economical night vision.  Generally sells in the range of $170-$500.  Amplifies ambient light 10,000 times and provides a clear, bright image.  Object recognition of 50-70yds and object detection of 100yds.

Gen 2

Most commonly used by law enforcement.  Generally sells in the range of $1200-$3000.  Amplifies ambient light 20,000 times and provides a sharper, brighter image than gen1.  Object recognition of 200yds and object detection of 500yds.

Gen 3

Most commonly used by Law Enforcement and Military.  Generally sells for $2600 and up.  Amplifies ambient light 30,000-50,000 times and provides the clearest image.  Object recognition of 300yds and object detection of 1,000yds.
